FEL 2010 award for LOA scientist Guillaume Lambert is the winner of the young researcher FEL 2010 award for his work done on the development of Free electron laser sources injected by harmonics produced in gases. This international prize is awarded annually and will be delivered at the FEL Conference 2010 in Malmo next fall. Guillaume Lambert has worked with Philippe Zeitoun at LOA in collaboration with Stéphane Sebban and Julien Gautier, all three being among the pioneers that have demonstrated the mechanism of injection in the case of XUV laser-produced plasma.Ecole Polytechnique PhD award for LOA The Ecole Polytechnique has awarded its 2010 PhD prize to Clement Réchatin. This is the second academic award obtained by the LOA PhD student after the one awarded by the French Physics Society (SFP) few months ago. His supervisor was Jerome Faure from the SPL team at LOA. His work demonstrated a new method of electron acceleration by collision of intense femtosecond laser pulses in a plasmas. The high level of excellence of this pioneering work has led to publications in journals with the higher impact factor.HDR Olivier Albert june 4, 2010Olivier Albert, researcher at LOA ENSTA, has been awarded his Research Habilitation (HDR) June 4, 2010. Ultrafast nonlinear optics is the core of the scientific activity he developed at LOA these last ten years. He is also actively involved in teaching and research administration. He is co-manager of the Electronuclear program at ENSTA and is the ENSTA representative at the RTRA Triangle of Physics steering committee which provides funds to researcher teams.A new kHz laser at LOA After several years of development, the new kHz laser at LOA has provided its first scientific results. Built and managed by the PCO group leaded by Rodrigo Lopez-Martens at the laboratory, this laser of mJ energy is stabilized in phase and delivers pulse durations of a few optical cycles in the infrared spectral range. The first results concern the generation of harmonic radiation from solid targets, experiments done in collaboration with a team of the IRAMIS laboratory (CEA Saclay).
